| BA Cabin Crew Having Fresh Ballot |
|
Following a ruling by the High court deeming a previous one unlawful, Unite Union has announced a fresh ballot. The ballot is to be held in a weeks time over staffing cuts and working conditions of 13000 cabin staff. If staff vote in favour there could be strikes by March with fears the union might hold off until Easter to cause maximum disruption. The airline industry, like many others, has been hit hard recently with British Airways reported to have lost £400 million last year. The proposed changes were part of cost cutting measures for BA to stay afloat. BA are said to be looking at a variety of measures they can take should the strike take place, one is leasing planes with existing crews and another mentioned is training up other members of staff to fill the places. |
